Richmond Amateur Regatta’s return postponed to 2027

Historic Thames racing returns to Richmond in 2027.

It is with real disappointment that the Richmond Regatta Organising Committee has made the decision to cancel this year’s regatta due to insufficient entries.

Based on the entries received, we are not confident that we could deliver the competitive, enjoyable and financially viable regatta that crews deserve.

We have taken the decision now so that those who had planned to race with us still have an opportunity to enter an alternative event.

Reading Town Regatta is taking place on the same day, with entries currently due to close at 18:00 on Thursday 18 June.

All Richmond Amateur Regatta entry fees already paid will be refunded in full. Entrants do not need to take any further action.

As a newly formed organising committee, we recognise that confirmation and promotion of this year’s event came too late for many clubs, several of whom had already committed to other racing plans.

However, the considerable work completed behind the scenes this year means that Richmond Amateur Regatta is now in a much stronger position for 2027.

We will begin promoting the event significantly earlier, giving clubs plenty of time to include Richmond in their racing calendars.

Please save the date and add it to your club’s rowing calendar.
